The Legs of Man is located just off the A50, about 1/2 mile south of the Arclid traffic lights. It is set back from the road on the junction of the turning to Smallwood. It has a car park to the front and to the side and rear are gardens and play area for familys in the finer weather.

The Legs of Man is really a pub that does excellent food. It has a silver service restaurant, and also serves an extensive range of meals in the bar areas. It has a reputation locally for its quality of food and variety of dishes on the menu.

The restaurant has an 'a la carte' menu which changes frequently. The bar has a daily menu which changes less frequently. However, there is no lack of variety. For example, for the main course there is regularly fresh Sea Bass, Pheasant and Guinea Fowl, only generally served in the better restaurants.

The bar menu is displayed on a large chalk board. It contains in the region of 15-20 starters and about 20 main course dishes. The starters are as diverse and appetising as the main courses.

The meals are generally excellent value. The bar meals are served with three types of fresh vegetables and the potatoes (chipped or boiled) are served separately in a serving dish. On my last visit I had the Steak and Mushroom Pie. It is home made and contains a generous amount of good meat, gravy and mushrooms. My only critisism is the pie crust is prepared separately and heated under the grill with gravy to brown.

Service is good and the food always arrives fresh and hot. The tables are laid with place mats and cutlery after ordering food at the bar. Fresh bread rolls and butter are brought to the table prior to the main order being served.

Prices are above normal for pub food but the quality of the food and service are far superior to that in a typical pub. For example the typical bar menu prices are from 6 - 10 (for the more expensive items like Sea Bass).

Verdict - It is this attention to detail as well as the quality of the food that makes the Legs of Man stand out amongst local pubs and restaurants.
