The restaurant is located just on the edge of the town centre, with street parking available alongside. It is quite spooky as you sit in the restaurant, look out and see a big epitaph 'To Our Glorious Dead' on the opposite side of the road, but just to reassure you, this is a war memorial and nothing to do with the after effects of a vindaloo.

The menu is a varied combination of traditional Tandoori specialities, standard restaurant curries and Balti dishes. On this particuular visit we went on a Friday lunchtime and went for the 5.50 per head lunch.

I ordered sheek kebab to start, followed by karahi lamb, my wife ordered onion bhaji followed by chicken dopiaza. We shared a portion of rice and a naan bread.

Whilst we waited for the meal we tucked into the poppadoms and chutneys presented to us. I guess they are included in the set lunch price, although that wasn't obvious from the menu.

Service was very good and the food arrived fresh and hot. The naan bread was splendid and extremely wholesome, a little on the thin side but the size of a small duvet. A tandoor was obviously used for the naans and other tandoori dishes on the menu. The portions were fairly generous, sometimes restaurants can be a little stingy on lunchtime menus, but in particular my lamb dish contained a good quantity of succulent pieces of lamb in a spicy sauce with copious amounts of onion and green capsicum. The chicken dish contained slightly less meat but it was good quality breast tikka portions.

We decided to skip the dessert as neither of us fancied tinned pineapple with cream, but we opted in for the coffee, served with a small jug of cream.

All this was washed down with a couple of lagers and the bill for two people, including drinks was just over 14. We both thought this was good value.

Verdict - A very favourable impression, I will now try the a la carte service in the evening, and I am confident that I won't be dissapointed. Overall, very good.
